Questions

Everything you need to know

Which stick do I need, the grey or the green?+
It depends on your skin concern. The grey Volcano stick is for deep cleansing, blackheads, excess oil and visible pores. The green Mugwort stick is for acne, redness, irritation and repairing a damaged skin barrier. Most customers use both: Volcano 1x a week to deep clean, Mugwort when the skin needs calming.
How long do I leave it on?+
Leave it on for 10 minutes. Remove it before it fully dries out — that is when clay is at its most effective. Leaving it on too long can dry out the skin and damage the barrier. For sensitive skin, start with 5 minutes and build up from there.
How often should I use it?+
For oily or acne-prone skin: 2 to 3 times a week. For combination or normal skin: 1 to 2 times a week. For dry or sensitive skin: once a week maximum. Clay masks cleanse deeply, so giving your skin time to recover between sessions always leads to better results.
My skin broke out after using it. Is that normal?+
Yes, this can happen in the first week and is called purging. The salicylic acid and clay ingredients push congestion already sitting below the skin to the surface faster than it would appear on its own. This is a sign the product is working. If breakouts continue beyond 2 weeks, reduce frequency or do a patch test to rule out a sensitivity.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?+
The Mugwort stick is the better option for sensitive skin. It contains ceramides, beta-glucan and centella asiatica which actively support the skin barrier. Always do a patch test first, start with 5 minutes, and avoid using it on broken or sunburned skin. The Volcano stick contains glycolic acid which can be too strong for very reactive skin.
Can I use it on active pimples?+
Yes. The green Mugwort stick is specifically designed for this. Salicylic acid penetrates the pore and breaks down the buildup causing the breakout, while mugwort and centella calm the inflammation. Apply directly to the area, leave for 10 minutes, and rinse. You will notice a visible difference in size and redness after just one use.
Do I need a moisturiser after?+
Always. Clay cleansing temporarily opens pores and removes surface oils. Follow up with a hydrating toner or serum and a moisturiser to seal everything back in. Skipping this step is the most common reason people experience dryness or tightness after using a clay mask.
When will I see results?+
Immediately after the first use your skin will feel cleaner, look less oily and pores will appear tighter. Within 1 to 2 weeks of consistent use, breakouts reduce noticeably and skin texture visibly improves. The ceramides and niacinamide in the Mugwort stick build up over time, so the longer you use it, the stronger your skin barrier becomes.
